Geraldine bought Irvin his first fiddle after he retired at age 65, he spent many years figuring out tunes by ear and joined the Lunenburg Fiddlers at age 73. And according to Irvin, Geraldine always wanted to play keyboard so she might has well learn now so she could play with him. They have dedicated their lives to volunteering and bettering the lives of others, playing at nursing homes in the area and other venues.
The Ramey’s were also instrumental in forming Club 60 in Queens County and still play an active role. They have also served as senior’s ambassadors for the Task Force on Aging. They received Remarkable Seniors Award in 2006 from 50+ Expos.
In addition to volunteering their music talent to others they also volunteer their time to a seniors bowling group, and are avid square dancers. Geraldine has also composed 5 songs. At 91 and 84 years of age this is one remarkable couple and the Lunenburg fiddlers are thrilled that they are part of their group.
Here they are playing one of Irvin’s favorite tunes. Newfoundland Waltz.
