After moving to Lunenburg County in 1987, Harold and Mary Ann founded the Lunenburg County Fiddlers, and they are still very active in the club today. Harold has served in many functions in the club including being the first President. Harold has come a long way since first teaching himself to read music at age 35. He has been teacher and mentor to many up and coming fiddlers and along with his wife Mary Ann recorded a CD. He leads the club on Tuesday nights in learning new tunes and is instrumental in putting together our yearly programs. Harold has written several tunes and this video features him playing “Larry’s River Jig”.
Mary Ann started playing piano, according to her mother, when she was big enough to pull her older sister from the piano bench. She would play tunes that were in her head, and still prefers to do that. She has since learned to read sheet music a little but still plays mostly by ear. She has put together 3 accompaniment books for 600 piano tunes. Mary Ann and her husband Harold give generously of their time to bring enjoyment to the community with their music. She is featured here playing one of her own tunes, “A Waltz for Janet and Doug”.
